Disclaimer: (1) I have never blogged before and have no idea what I’m doing (2) The English language and I do not get a long very well.
It is an honor to be here which such a wonderful group and I’m am grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and talk with Helen Haskell. It took a meare 30 seconds into Lewis’s story for me to feel a pit develop in my stomach as I was reminded of 3 different patients that I had cared for over the past year which greatly paralleled his story. With each of these patients there was something missed, overlooked or harm unnecessarily introduced; and with each of these patients I had a little voice in the back of my mind telling me something was wrong and I did not act upon it. Needless to say, I require no further motivation to be fully invested in this week.
Much to the chagrin of my family and friends, I’m never have much hesitation to get shirtless and start dancing. I just need a good tune, so let’s get the music started!
On a tangential note, Telluride is beautiful. The sky is blue, the mountains are majestic and the air (what little bit of it there is) is crisp. Excited to see what awaits us on day 2.
