It’s only day 1 and I feel so motivated to go back to my home medical center and fix everything. This is awesome! One thing that really stuck out to me was the concept that a patient’s care is a team effort. It’s all a team effort until someone messes up, then everyone starts pointing fingers and saying “I didn’t do it.” But today I realized that it’s a systems error or a team error. It’s a constellation of several mistakes that lead to one serious/unfortunate event. I appreciated that in the case of the patient dying from the air embolus, the resident wasn’t the one that took the blow for the adverse event, it was everyone. Everyone has something to learn from the situation and has something to change/improve. I really would like to bring this concept to my medical center.
