I have been working as a nurse for just over five years and am currently in school to further my education.  In the short amount of time that I have been in this career I have witnessed many unsafe acts in the medical field.  Some of these actions are minor and can be easily corrected, while others require extravagant changes. Fortunately, for the most part, these acts have all been accidental.  I chose to attend the Telluride Experience to gain insight on how other institutions have worked to overcome and decrease these unsafe acts, and improve the overall patient experience.  Patient safety is integral to patient care because it is ongoing and limitless. The opportunity to change and improve patient safety is met daily in the hospital and clinical setting.  As I continue to further my career, patient safety has become a top priority.
