I just finished the required readings for the Telluride Experience and all I can say is wow. I would have never thought healthcare can be so dangerous and depend on safety so much. Growing up, you always think you get sick, you go to the doctor, you get better. But there is so much more to that. Medication dosages, in contact with bodily fluids, surrounded by sharp objects are all part of the job. Lots of things can go wrong. I didn’t realize this until I became a Patient Care Technician. I was able to see on the frontlines of how safety is crucial for patient care. I cannot wait to begin the Telluride Experience in Napa next week to learn more about what I can do now and as future physician on providing safe care for my patients.
